County transportation seeks input on permit process

Multnomah County transportation is seeking public input on the permitting process for development-related construction projects in the county’s right of way.

The county maintains 300 miles of roads, including arterial and collector roads in the east county cities of Fairview, Troutdale and Wood Village and roads in rural unincorporated areas.  Permits are issued to citizens, utilities and private contractors before they can work in the county’s road right of way.  The permit process helps to determine the impact a development has on the public transportation system and establishes requirements to mitigate the impact through a construction permit.
The county’s Road Services Division is seeking public input to help make the permit process more efficient, faster, and less costly for applicants.

Members of the public who have had contact with the permit process can complete a short online survey through April 10 at the county’s website: https://multco.us/roads/webform/construction-permit-process-survey.  Individuals who would like to participate in a stakeholder group that will meet to review the permit process can submit an interest form at the same web page.

For more information, contact project facilitator Michael Grimmett, 503-988-0183,
michael.v.grimmett@multco.us.
