The Multnomah Falls Lodge supported the Citizen Patrol volunteers with a nice dinner during the spring training meeting.
They've now been trained and authorized to issue parking warnings. In the future, we hope to have many of them trained and sworn-in to assist deputies by issuing parking citations and disabled parking citations.
The Citizen Patrol has no operating budget. The members conduct gorge and school patrols using their own vehicles and fuel. The Sheriff's Office recently provided the volunteers with an older unmarked patrol car for use only on weekends and holidays. The county has also agreed to allow the volunteers to communicate on a county owned radio repeater, however all of the shared radios have been acquired through donations.
