Our January 2011 Crime Log is attached below as a pdf.
This was a sad month for law enforcement officers throughout our state and nation. Locally, our deputies assisted the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in filling in on patrol districts after Ranier Police Chief Painter was killed. On the west side of town on Sauvie Island, our deputies have assisted in the investigation of the shooting of Lincoln City officer Dodds. The suspect lived on Sauvie Island.
Skye Dittemore, a local 14-year old Corbett student passed away this month due to health complications. A memorial was held at the Corbett School.
If anyone would like to volunteer their time in researching and acquiring an AED (Automatic Electronic Defibrillator) for the Corbett Grange Hall, please contact me and offer any suggestions. This could be a useful tool with so many elderly persons visiting the grange each week! The Sheriff's Office will be offering another training class for volunteers who are interested in being a part of our Citizen Patrol. If you're interested, please call the county's volunteer coordinator, Vivian Feldman at 503-988-3390, to inititate the application process and background check. Then mark your calendars for Citizen Patrol new-hire training on Thursday March 31st at the Corbett Fire Station from 6PM-8:30PM. If you can't make that date, please contact Deputy Graziano (see below) to arrange another training day.
