The Sheriff’s Office established an EOC (Emergency Operations Center) to respond to today’s flooding and the expected flooding that could occur through Wednesday.  Participants included ODOT, County Roads, Corbett Fire District #14, County Emergency Management and Wood Village Public Works.  ODOT and County Roads have a huge list of problems that they’re responding to in matter of priority.  It was mentioned at the meeting that the National Weather Service forecasted more heavy rain from Tuesday at 5PM until around 5AM Wednesday.

There aren’t enough personnel to staff every road closure so we do our best with cones and barricades.  We understand that people drive around them if they’re not monitored.  Doing so is at your own risk.  In the case of the old Hwy at Neilsen, there was concern about the road buckling with the heavy run-off.  If it gets closed again at Neilsen, drivers can take Woodard Rd. to the Old Hwy..  Or drivers can take the Old Hwy, east to Bridal Veil and then west on I84 to get into town.

We have 18 Citizen Patrol volunteers on standby (via our great new Corbett repeater J) and may be called-up to assist with traffic control or door-to-door notifications if there are safety concerns.

Thank you,

I just called Home Depot in Troutdale and they do have sandbags in stock, but they are going through them pretty quickly. Residents should be encouraged to call any commercial providers prior to visiting to make sure there is stock available or to check on minimum purchase quantities.
