It's yet to be determined whether or not the animal in the photo (posted here and on the Corbett Oregon Facebook page) is actually a wolf. The Dept of Fish & Wildlife has been notified and should be looking into this matter soon. The number for the Sauvie Island-based Multnomah Co. Fish & Wildlife Office is: 503-621-3488. The two primary people who will likely be involved with this case are: Manager Mark Nebeker and Biologist Don Vandebergh.

If the animal in the photo, and the animal which has been seen by multiple people, is in fact a wolf, it is protected by the ESA (Endangered Species Act) and is the responsibility of the Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife. Shooting a protected animal is illegal and a potential felony.
