Quick highlights of the meeting:

Barb Adams:  Thousand Acres:  There will be a equestrian trail maintenance training April 15-17.  The parking lot down there is bad but the Forest Service is planning on paving it this summer.

Chuck:  Cascade Locks:  There is a dedication of the Sacajawea and Seaman statue at the Locks on 4/13/11 at 3pm.  The Oregon Valley Boys Band will be playing.  Local sculptress Heather Sondenburg did the 9 foot tall statue and has a wonderful studio in Cascade Locks if any of you want to go see it.    The Port will be building a 10,000 sq. ft building for rent in the light industrial zoning if anyone is looking for a good place to have a shop.  It will be 1.5 miles from downtown on Herman Creek road.  They received a $850,000 grant for this and are looking to build the community.

It was also mentioned that there will be a Cascade Locks to Crown Point bike ride starting at 7 am on 6-26.  This is being done in conjunction with Steamboat days and they will not be shutting the road down.  There is discussion going with an engineer to put in a bike trail about 1 mile off the main road with a completion date hoped for next year. www.cascadetocrown <http://www.cascadetocrown>   for more information on the bike ride and if anyone wants to participate

Jerry West has a lot of small fir trees if anyone wants to dig and plant them in their own yard.

Glenn Littrel: Parks and rec:  Earth day is 4-23 and they will be planting trees at Rooster rock starting at 9 am.   Trees were donated.
On 4-15 the Vista house will open with summer hours of 9-6 daily
On 5-12 The Wheel of Fortune will be filming at the Vista House

Mark Butler: ODOT:  The speed has changed to 50 miles an hour, this will stay in effect as long as the bridge work continues.  They are looking to redevelop the plans to put few piers in to reduce flooding problems.

Springdale Job Corp:  They have just gone tobacco free and are very excited.  They are going to do a community relations council on 4-28-11 at 11:30.  This will be a chance for them to share their new green ideas and changes they have made and get the community some information on their program.  They do intend to feed anyone who comes Smiley

Carla Jones: 4th of July:  Came to work with the NEMMCA members who are involved in the parking for the 4th.  This was going to be a long discussion so it was tabled to after the meeting for those who wanted to meet so the meeting could continue.

ODOT:  There has been a funding okay for restoring the viaduct at Crown Point.  This project is coming in under the 5 million that was funded so approximately .5 million is available to work from Larch Mountain road down to Alex Barr.  This would be paving and gutter restoration.  There is a public meeting scheduled at the Fire Hall for 5-7:30 on 4-20-11.  (You could leave there and go right to the school board meeting Smiley
ODOT is also working on a vegetation management plan.  This is involving opening up Key Viewing Areas and would start with 2-3 pilot projects.  Those interested can ask at the public meeting.
There is also a 50 million dollar state trail plan being considered for 11 miles of trail along the Gorge.  They have very nice brochures detailing the plans available.

Dave Mysinger:  Trail clearing has started and new L.E.D. lights are going in at the Visitor Center.

Sheriff Graziano:  There has been a dip in break-ins thanks to the help from the Citizen's Patrol.  They had another training session and it looks like there will be around 30 trained volunteers by summer.  They have received some grant money to outfit the patrol and get some signs and supplies.    Fraud alerts:  There are some postal orders that look real but are NOT.  Please be careful.  Also, there was an e-mail being sent around saying it was from Reliance Connects and asking for information.  This is also not valid.   Joe's monthly crime log can be found on Corbett Forum for those who'd like to pull it up and see what is going on in your community.

Carnetta Boyd: USS Ranger:  The County commissioner is working with them to coordinate bringing the ship in at the same time dredging is done for ease of movement.  Things are going fast now and the benefits will be great.  The ship can be used for convention space that Portland does not currently have, it will have a 60 bed hospital and 3 surgery rooms so it can be used for emergency operations in case of a disaster.  It is expected to bring in 46 million dollars a year in income and provide 546 jobs.  It will have restaurants, welding shops, and bring in USO tours.

Jeff Strang: Housing Inspector:  Remember that we have a complaint driven rental housing ordinance and if people want to file a complaint they can.

So.. if you want more information on what ODOT is planning, be sure to attend the meeting on 4-20-11 from 5-7:30 at the Fire Hall.
