To those affected by airplane noise over Corbett:

I asked the PDX Noise Office to generate two maps showing all east-flow departures between 5:30AM and 7:30 AM (the heaviest morning departure traffic, and historically of major concern for Corbett residents):
the first shows departure tracks on 10/03/19, the second on 10/03/18, exactly one year earlier.

If I line up the maps to compare tracks I notice that:

1. Departure tracks have NOT moved further east, or intruded any further into the greater Corbett area since the announcement that satellite beacon-guided flight paths will replace ground-based guidance

2. The width of all east flow departure tracks to destinations north and east has narrowed in 2019, starting with at the Sandy River and fully aligning at Reed Island, but again departures have not moved further east as a consequence of tracks tightening

I will soon request similar year-to-year comparison maps for west-flow arrival tracks over Corbett, to see whether so far there is a noticeable change affecting Corbett residents' exposure to airplane noise.

Best,
Klaus Heyne
