Stark Street Bridge inspection Oct. 24-26 will impact traffic
A biennial structural inspection of the Stark Street Bridge over the Sandy River is scheduled Tuesday to Thursday, October 24-26 from 7:30 am to 5 pm. The inspection will impact traffic on the narrow bridge because flaggers will limit traffic to a single lane at times. Larger trucks and buses will not be able to cross the bridge during the inspection.
Bridge users should expect delays during the inspection. The best alternate route for large vehicles is Interstate 84. The Historic Columbia River Highway through downtown Troutdale is an alternate route suitable for smaller vehicles.
Public bridges in the United States are inspected every two years by independent inspectors to document their structural condition.
Multnomah County maintains the Stark Street Bridge along with 25 other bridges and 300 miles of roads. For information, visit
