April 2017 Safety Meeting Notes:
Kent Kalsch: ODOT: They had been dealing with an average of two slides a week during the bad weather, with the weather improving they will start with the brushing and sweeping. ODOT is putting out a contract to help control the cottonwood growth they've been having along their roads.
Anna Snyder: Springdale Job Corp: They had a good trade and college career fair. They are looking for students between 16 and 24, especially those interested in autobody.
Diane McKeel: Candidate for Mt. Hood Community College Board: There is a bond on the ballot for the college, they haven't had one pass since 1974. Matching funds of eight million are attached to this bond, use it for maintenance and to build a new workforce and applied tech center- this is important with Boeing, Amazon and Subaru coming to our area.
Lt. James Ericksen: MCSO: Sheriff's Office is negotiating with Fairview on a ten year contract, will have more information on how this is going by next week. Will be doing summer staffing in May, partnering with Forest Service and State Parks. School Resource Office will be out around the Falls once school is out for summer. Asking for money from the Commissioners to add tow full time staff for homeless outreach.
Barb Adams: Friends of the Sandy River Delta, Thousand Acres: They have been having parking issues at the Delta, started heavy ticketing and that has helped with the problem, those parking out on the corner are mostly locals. Long slot parking is being overrun by those not pulling trailers, may put up sandwich boards, find out what has worked in other places. HB 3350, sponsored by Rep Mark Johnson, might want to read it.
Rebecca Gandy: April 12 there will be a meeting at the Grange Hall at 6pm for Weed Workshop. Learn how to identify and control noxious weeds.
Glenn Littrell: Oregon State Parks: Viento is now open and they have three new personnel coming on to help for the summer. On April 15 there will be a Steel heads clean up from Dabney to Lewis and Clark State Parks. On April 22 there will be a volunteer tree planting starting at 9 am at Lewis and Clark. Trails are a little rough right now, be cautious.
Jeff Busto: Corbett Water District: There has been some issue with the mail coming to the office and payments are not being received. They are working with customers to get this resolved without fees.
Ron Cannon: Citizen's Patrol: Noticing an influx at Thousand Acres, wrote 47 warnings last week along the curve to the ramp.
Deputy Joe Graziano: MCSO: There have been mail thefts lately, check your mail as soon as possible after delivery time. Garbage is being dumped, call non-emergency if you see any dump piles, notify MCSO if you see someone dumping.
Dave Mysinger: Forest Service: Three seasonal workers are coming on this month, another will be hired in May.
