Travelers who use the Stark Street Bridge over the Sandy River in rural east Multnomah County should expect delays on Monday, August 22 from 8 am to 1 pm during a bridge inspection. The bridge will remain open but one lane will be closed during the work, with a flagger directing traffic. Drivers can avoid delays by using alternate routes such as Interstate 84 or the Historic Columbia River Highway through downtown Troutdale.
In addition to inspecting the bridge, crews will repair a hand railing and add pavement striping during the day. Multnomah County maintains the Stark Street Bridge along with 25 other bridges and 300 miles of roads. For information, visit
