Corbett Community:

This year represents the centennials of America’s first scenic highway, the Historic Columbia River Highway and State Trail.

June 7, 1916 is a date etched in Oregon history.  On this day the Columbia River Highway was dedicated with great fanfare at Multnomah Falls. As such the Friends of Historic Columbia River Highway and partners are organizing a fitting tribute to our favorite road 100 years from the date.  As the event organizers we wanted to make you aware that there will be a procession of bicycles and antique automobiles on the Historic Columbia River Highway on June 7, 2016 between 8 am and 1 pm.  Approximately 20 cyclists will be on the road headed from Corbett High School to Vista House between 8 am and 8:30 am.  A parade of 40 antique cars will start from Troutdale’s Glenn Otto Park at 8:15 and make their way to Vista House at 8:45.  The antiques cars will be returning to Glenn Otto Park between 11:30 and 12:30

We invite the community to celebrate with the Historic Columbia River Highway Centennial at 3:00 pm in Troutdale where we will unveiling of artist Rip Caswell’s Visionary Park monument. Visionary Park is Troutdale’s newest park; intersection of the Historic Highway and Jackson Park Road.  Also, 9:00am - 6:00 pm please join us for the King of Roads exhibit at Troutdale Historical Society. Historic photos, accompanying text, and video lead visitors through the highway’s construction, heyday, decline, and reconstruction. Artist Mike Rangner will sign commemorative Highway posters at Troutdale’s Barn Exhibit Hall from 3:30 to 6:00 pm.

Thanks for your support! More info on this year’s celebration at historichighwaystatetrail.org.

Sincerely,

Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway
