What happened?
Helping Hands Food Program, located in Corbett, OR—just a few miles up the road, endured theft of most of their essential equipment. The damage included broken eggs, ruined food, ruined boxes and the theft of things such as microwave, refrigerator, popcorn machine, and more items that assist in ensuring seniors and families in need can eat and get essential supplies.
This has been devastating to the program, which is a nonprofit, fully volunteer run program through the local Grange Hall. It’s an essential part of the community due to the fact that Corbett is located in unincorporated Multnomah County and quite a distance from most food banks and shelters. The community rallies around this program and considers it a vital, important asset to ensuring individuals stay safe and supported in tough times.

The Helping Hands Program provides two amazing services: We are open to the general public on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Four bags of groceries per family per visit are available for a suggested donation of ONLY $4.00 to cover program expens-es. Bags are provided at the door. The program offers a wide range of food items from boxed and canned food, to fresh produce, and frozen and refrigerated items. Pet food is also available. On Mondays from 11:00-1:00 p.m., the doors are open to Senior resi-dents (over 55 years of age). During this time, Seniors enjoy donuts, coffee and socializa-tion with their neighbors followed by a hot lunch.
