Title: February 2010
Post by: www.corbettoregon.com on March 02, 2010, 12:24:58 PM
Hello Corbett Citizens and Affiliates,
I’ve attached the February crime log.  There was a robbery listed on Smith Road.  It was allegedly drug related and the suspects were arrested.  There was an increase in vehicle break-ins in the gorge. Most of these were on the recent bout of nice weather-days.  In looking at the times and locations of the break-ins, you can actually see the route the suspects took as they travelled along the Scenic Highway.  We’re in the process of establishing a volunteer “Citizen Patrol” to  work in the gorge this summer.  The mission is to watch the parking lots for thieves and to report the activity.  Volunteers will receive free training in observation and non-confrontational techniques.

We also had a Town Hall meeting with the new Sheriff, Dan Staton, his command staff and county commissioner Diane McKeel.  Quite a few people had questions about a new law requiring persons transporting metal to fill out a vehicle transport form.  I’ve provided some links to info on the new law and the form.  I never thought so many people transported metal!
