Title: County Budget Meeting at Fire Hall
Post by: www.corbettoregon.com on April 17, 2019, 06:28:44 AM
Budget listening session tonight in Corbett on April 17th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Fire Hall. There are sheets at the local markets to sign to support Corbett's CRO a.k.a. Deputy Rocky Graziano. Signatures will be shared with Commissioner Stegmann tonight. Also... from a community member's email of interest: "The proposed Multnomah County budget will drop funding for one of the Compliance Officers with Multnomah County Department of Land Use Planning.  This would leave only one compliance officer for the entire county!  This position is critical for enforcement of the county's land use regulations, and the loss of this position would make it more difficult to process citizens' complaints about land use violations in their area.  The rural and unincorporated areas of the county would be most affected by this loss."

Here is information about the County Compliance Officer:

PLEASE TAKE ACTION -- Those of us who live in the Scenic Area and environs really depend on MC Land Use to keep illegal activity in check. If you have ever made a Compliance Complaint you know that someone at Land Use has to be there to follow up. I am in the middle of one as we speak and am already aware of the heavy work load that they have --- losing a position simply gives the green light to people who do not care to follow the rules that protect our community.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD but spreading the word is not enough. Write/email our Commissioners...And I would suggest also copying your email to the Gorge Commission. (info@gorgecommission.org).

Folks,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of the planning program in Multnomah County. I wanted to ask you for your support one last time. As some of you know one of our compliance officer positions is not currently funded in the budget for next year. This was a difficult decision to make, but one that was necessitated by a mandated across the board budget cut. This position is integral to being able to respond to complaints in the County. If this position is not funded there will be just one (1) compliance officer which will greatly affect the County's ability to respond to violations and assist community members.

I am hoping that you will find some time to assist with retaining this position. Please request support for the Land Use Planning Code Compliance Position in the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget (Program Offer 91021B-20) by doing one, some, or all of the following actions:
e-mail the commissioners and ask them to fund the Land Use Planning Compliance Officer position. Those e-mails are:
mult.chair@multco.us
district1@multco.us
district2@multco.us
district3@multco.us
district4@multco.us
Write a letter and send it to the commissioners. You can mail a letter to Chair Kafoury, Commissioner Meieran, Commissioner Jayapal, Commissioner Vega Pederson, or Commissioner Stegmann at 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Suite 600, Portland, Oregon 97214-3587.
Attend a Budget Meeting and show support for reinstatement of the position, those meetings are at:
IRCO (10301 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97220) on 4-29-19 from 6 to 8 PM
Multnomah Building (501 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214) on 5-8-19 from 6 to 8 PM
East County Building Sharon Kelley Rooms (600 NE 8th St, Gresham, OR 97030) on 5-14-19 from 6 to 8 PM
Roosevelt High School (6941 N Central St., Portland, OR 97203) on 5-22-19 from 6 to 8 PM
You may have noticed that I asked for your support one last time above, that is because I will be leaving the County at the beginning of May. My family is relocating to NW Washington, too far for me to commute to Multnomah County. I have enjoyed working with you all over the years and appreciate the effort you put forth for your communities.

Keep up the good work!
