Red and Black Fundraiser
AUCTION and DINNER RAISES ALMOST $76K for CORBETT SCHOOL SPORTS!
On Saturday, March 10th, the Corbett High School Gym was filled with 340 guests who generously donated funds raising almost $76,000 for Corbett’s Sports Programs. An “Oregon’s Wonders” theme helped spotlight the athletes, and “Corbett’s Own Wonder”, Kiki Frunk, senior athlete, led the way with an impactful speech on what sports has meant to her since transferring to Corbett. Frunk began her speech by stating “us athletes really look forward to this night because it’s our opportunity that we can give back to you”. This rang true, as over 90 high school athletes assisted during the evening by serving the meal, checking-in/out guests, and coordinating procurement items for check out.
Brad Caldwell, auctioneer and Corbett graduate, returned for his fifth Red & Black auction. A highlight of the evening was when five yards of gravel donated by Woody Davis and family generated a bidding war and Woody proudly gave the “thumbs up” approving another 5 yards of gravel to be sold. The two winning bids raised $1,400.00! Woody received a standing ovation and his presence made for a very special night.
….
Other wonderful procurement items included a chef’s dinner for eight at Multnomah Falls, a tour of Fire Station #1 in downtown Portland, an autographed University of Oregon football, Alaska Airline tickets, and Blazer tickets.
The Corbett Boosters and Corbett Youth Sports help to financially support all aspects of athletics in Corbett, from kindergarten through seniors in high school.
